My name is Gabby De Guzman, and I am a senior under the Nursing Assistant major at Southeast Career Technical Academy. At Tech, I am involved in Student Ambassadors, Student Council where I am the 2019-2020 Senior Class President, and I am one of the captains of the Varsity Flag Football team.

Outside of school, I train in taekwondo, where I am a fourth degree black belt, a chief instructor at my studio, and a national champion in sparring and weapons.

Senior year has been a year of growth for me, personally. Through learning about different health care careers/specialties, the duties of a CNA, my capstone (regarding a solution to postpartum hemorrhaging), and all around proper patient care and communication skills, I have grown a deep appreciation for the medical field and the hard work and dedication these professionals put in daily. After high school, I plan on attending UNLV to continue my education in nursing and obtain my master's degree to become a nurse practitioner.

Senior year and my capstone project have both sparked my interest in neonatology, which is where I plan to specialize in in the future. Working with newborns and building a connection with their mothers is something I know I will develop a strong passion for, so I would love to be a neonatal nurse practitioner in the future.
